Travel in 2004

I'm quitting my job at the end of this coming January. There are many things I'm looking forward to after leaving the constrains of working 5 days a week, including a lot of travel. Here are some of my plans for the coming year:

February - After I'm done with work, I'm headed to Elbow Cay in the Bahamas for some serious decompression.

March - Skiing Europe. I'm off to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to ski the alps with a friend.

April & May - Head to northern New Mexico and follow the caddis hatch north. Meet up with friends in the Bozeman MT area and be there for the Mother's Day Caddis Hatch on the Yellowstone, Madison, Boulder and surrounding waters. After that, keep heading north until the caddis run out.

June - Try to float the Smith River in Montana. Getting a permit is difficult, but I'm hoping that if I hang out at the river I can get a no-show.

July - Backpack around Yellowstone National Park. I've spent a lot of time in the Park, but there are still so many places that I want to explore: The upper Lamar valley, the Yellowstone Thoroughfare, The Black Canyon of the Yellowstone, Hellroaring Creek, and the list goes on. Here are my current plans. Backcountry Yellowstone maps are available on the Park's website.
After exploring my favorite National Park, it will be time to drive to Alaska.

August - A good friend of mine has access to a plane in Alaska. I'm hoping to explore the southern part of the state with him during the early part of the month. Then it's off to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge with Arctic Treks for another northern Alaska adventure. We need people to join this trip.

September - Jackson Hole One Fly. I'll volunteer and participate in the competition.

November and December - Head down to New Zealand I'm hoping to buy an old beater pickup truck and just wander around the North and South islands.

December 25 - Christmas in Ohio with my family.

Of course Bruce will be including his sister in as many of these trips as possible!
