The Next Step

Today was my last day working at And what an emotional filled day (and week) this has been.

Tuesday my Amazon cohorts threw me a retirement party I'll remember forever. The highlight of the event was the surprise appearance of several old friends from my days at Apple Computer and my dad from Ohio. I was totally shocked by their appearance. It was very moving to see how many people came to see me off (or maybe it was the great food and drinks) and to hear so many accolades. For a midwesterner like me, it's hard to accept compliments.

So now I'm on my own. Unemployed. Free to do whatever I wish. It's a very strange and exhilerating feeling. I feel like I've been living my life riding the rails of a job, and now I'm off the rails free to go wherever I want. Exciting, but scarey too. My biggest issue right now is how much I'm going to miss the great people I've been spending 5 days a week with for the last 6 years.
