It seems like it's always cold when I visit Neuschwanstein. And every time I visit Germany with a friend, we make a stop there. Today's visit was interesting because I got to see the results of the construction that was going on in the castle the last time I was there in 1997. There's a new path through several unfinished sections of the castle and a new gift shop, cafe, and multi-media theater. The tour has been improved and I think the whole experience of visiting Germany's most famous landmark is more enjoyable.
We stayed in Hohenschwangau right between Neuschwanstein and the older Hohenschwangau at the Hotel Müller. At 85 euros a night it was a good deal: it was as close as you can get to the castles, the rooms were simple but pleasant, the included breakfast was good, the staff was friendly, and the food at dinner was traditional Bavarian and delicious. Especially at the great off-season rate we got, I highly recommend the Hotel Müller for anyone visiting the Füssen area and its famous castles.

You should have seen the path in 1960.
