Australia - Tasmania - Domaine A

This winery has a certain uppityness to it that seemed rather foreign to the typical Tasmanian establishments. I kind of felt like I was in Napa. If you visit, don't dare asking if maybe Tasmania might be too cool to grow Cabernet. They have two labels, Stoney Vineyard which is more entry-level, and Domaine A, their flagship.

2004 Stoney Vineyard Pinot Noir
Nice ruby color. Hints of mint and smoke. A short finish. Drink now, this isn't going to get any better. More French style than I've had here in Tasmania. Over priced? AU$35

2003 Domain A Pinot Noir
Strong nose of violet. Fine tannins, hints of cypress. Starts out very fruit forward, moves to darker berry flavors. AU$65

2000 Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon
Classic Cab nose. Strong oak, firm tannins. Needs more time. AU$65

1999 Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon
Much more complex than the 2000. Herbaceous and smokey. AU$75
