This winery is best known for its sparkling wines, but they make some nice Pinot Noir as well. They have a lunch counter serving pretty nice local antipasto.
2000 Kreglinger Vintage Brut
Spicy nose. Very fruity taste. Would be great with strawberries. Nice, easy drinking. AU$46.50
2000 Blanc de Blanc
Yeasty, hazelnut flavors. A nice long finish with hints of shortbread. Classy stuff. AU$65.
2005 Pipers Brook Riesling
Nothing special. Lacks acid and not much flavor. AU$27.50
2005 Ninth Island Pinot Noir
Great value. Raspberry on the nose. Nice intense fruit. A faint "hotness" that might go away with breathing. Nicely rounded tannins. AU$23.50
2003 Piper's Brook Estate Pinot Noir
Mint on the nose. Strong cherry fruit. Hints of carmel & vanilla taste. Not much tannin.
2004 Piper's Brook Estate Pinot Noir
Much more intense nose than 2003. More intense fruit, stronger tannins, definite vanilla tones. 2004 was obviously a better vintage.
2004 Lyre Pinot Noir
Beautiful pinot, the best I've had yet in Tasmania. Is it worth the price? Is it as good as a Pegasus Bay Prima Donna? Not quite. Classic french style. Beautiful tannins. AU$96
