I liked this winery. The cellar door is in a very beautiful old building and the staff is incredibly friendly. One of the best places to visit in McLaren Vale.
2004 "Scrubby Rise" Shiraz
Inky, looks viscous, a bit opaque. Peppery nose. BIG taste, powerful fruit up front. Finishes with tobacco. A very long finish. Nothing subtle about this wine. AU$15
2005 "Church Block" Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot
Brick red, a bit opaque. Earthy nose. Cassis flavors. A very long finish. I like this wine. AU$20
2005 "Catapult" Shiraz Viognier
Again, very dark blackberry color. Peppery nose, but hints of sweet honey in the mouth. Spicy flavors. AU$20
2004 "RSW" Shiraz
Average purple highlight color. A very complex nose, lots of layers. Smooth chocolate flavor. Nice round tannins. A bit unctuous. A beautiful interesting wine. The drop of the day. AU$55
2004 The Angelus Cabernet Sauvignon (Called "Dead Ringer" in US)
Inky dark. Again a very complex nose. Elegant currant, black raspberry flavors. Fine, fine tannins. Changes on a very long finish. Very drinkable now. I like it! AU$48
