Australia - South Australia - McLaren Vale - Coriole

A cute little winery in the hills northeast of McLaren Vale. It's a great place to visit with a nice picnic area and a friendly staff in the cellar door situated in an old stone building. They seem to do a lot of experimenting with unusual varieties, but I pretty much focused on their more traditional wines.

2006 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Very light, almost clear color. Nice citrus on nose, Sauvignon Blanc comes through clearly. Clean herby/grassy flavors, great acid. AU$16

2005 McLaren Vale Sangiovese
Blueish rose color. Distinctly spicy nose. Tight, but nice tannins. Needs to be drunk with food. AU$18

2003 Lalla Rookh Grenache Shiraz
Brilliant color. Almost hints of maple on the nose. Nice tasting, starts with strong plum skin flavor, moves to dark chocolate. Finish is a bit dark. $AU24

2004 Redstone Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark brilliant color. Very earthy nose. Earthy taste. Not my favorite. I've had other McLaren Vale Cabs I liked a lot more. A bit harsh & woody. Coffee on the finish. $AU18.50

2005 Mclaren Vale Shiraz
Beautiful dark violet red color. Peppery nose. Beautiful smooth tannins, hints of pepper, plum skins. Has a very long clean finish. AU$25
