A great little winery trying to go 100% organic. The restaurant at the winery is highly recommended in the area and I found it to be very enjoyable. The food is completely organic and much of it is locally grown. For lunch I had a starter of Squid with Herb Salad & Sushi Rice, and Lamb Tagine for my main.
2006 Semillon / Sauvignon Blanc
Pale straw color, hint of green. Nose is grassy with hints of lemon zest. Prototypical Margaret River SBS, with hints of pineapple. Very long layered finish. Fantastic with a squid salad (seasoned with sweet pepper and sesame). Clashes a bit with the water cress in the herb salad. AU$35
2004 Cabernet / Merlot
Dark purple color. Cabernet is strong on the nose - hints of red raspberry. Very round flavors, finish is nicer than the original tastes - layered and changing. Some smoke and oak. AU$35
2004 Mangan Vineyard Merlot
Cherry red. Aromas of blackberry and pencil lead. Dark bramble fruit flavors, a touch of tar. Finish has several layers, but not exceptionally long. AU$27
2005 Mangan Malbec / Petit Verdot / Merlot
Lighter colored - like a pinot noir, dark red raspberry. A light bodied wine, berries, but with a tannic backbone. Cola notes on the very long complex finish. AU$45
2003 Dina Madeline Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot
Bit of the french style barnyard thing going on with the nose. Beautiful full flavors, cherry, cigar, cedar, purple plums. Very complex finish. A beautiful wine. AU$90
2005 Diana Madeline Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot
This wine will be released in July but I was given a sneak preview. If I thought the 2003 was nice, this is really spectacular. It's even more complex and amazingly has more concentrated flavor. This will be a fantastic wine. Price not yet known.
